Denis Lill was born on 22 April 1942 in Hamilton, Waikato, New Zealand. He was 34 at the time of filming Mad Dog

Denis Lill has played a huge variety of roles on the big and small screen in a long and sustained career that has included appearances in such classic TV show as Rock Follies, The Professionals, Van der Valk, and Blackadder, and films including Evita, Fierce Creatures and Richard III.

He has recently been starring in a regular role on the spin-off Hearbeat series The Royal on ITV.
