Mary and Frank |
A scene from |
||
With her father's indulgence, Frank asks Mary to accompany him on a walk around the area — the first act of 'courtship' on his part. The couple climb the steep hillside behind Mary's farm to admire the views of the valley below. | |||
Comparing the use of the location: The viaduct is the central location for many of Mad Dog's early scenes — including Charles meeting with Fenton — and always shot from close-at-hand. In the The Watercress Girl, the viaduct appears in a single brief sequence, and in the middle-distance. From a camera position high up on the hillside at Monsal Head, the viaduct and the valley are framed in the background of this shot, with the roadway in the valley-floor hidden behind the tree-line.
